This policy explains what data GulfVIN collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the service, and we never sell your data.
1. What we collect
Account data: your email address, and the credit balance and purchase records tied to your account.
Usage data: the VINs you check, the reports you unlock, and basic technical information such as your IP address and request times, which we use to run the service and protect it from abuse.
Payment data: when you buy credits, our payment provider collects your payment details directly. We receive a confirmation and a payment reference, but we do not store your full card number.
2. How we use your data
We use your data to provide the service: to sign you in, deliver the reports you request, maintain your credit balance and report history, process payments, prevent fraud and abuse, and respond to support requests.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
3. Service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate: Stripe (payment processing), Resend (sending your login code emails), and licensed vehicle-data providers such as ClearVin (the US and Canadian records shown in your reports). We also use a hosting provider to run the website and database.
These providers process data only to perform their service for us and are bound by their own privacy and security obligations.
4. Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in after you log in. It does not track you across other websites. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
5. Data retention
We keep your account data and purchase history for as long as your account is active so you can access reports you have paid for. Login codes are short-lived and deleted once used or expired. You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time, subject to records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons.
6. Your rights
You can request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. To make a request, email support@gulfvin.com from your account email address.
7. Security
We protect your account with passwordless email sign-in, encrypted session tokens, rate limiting, and standard security headers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to safeguard your data.
8. Children
GulfVIN is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
